‘Our Star’ at Hereford Left Bank

Our Star arrived in Hereford for a residency at the Left Bank Village on the 21st March 2024. The residency has been organised by Herefordshire for Europe as part of their on-going campaign to recognise the errors of Brexit and to reunite with our friends in Europe as soon as possible.

Whilst at this picturesque location on the banks of the river Wye, it will form the centrepiece of a number of different events over the next few weeks.

Discussion Evening: 27 March, 7-9pm

Report from Richard Jones, Chair of Herefordshire for Europe:

“At the Left Bank in Hereford, on Wednesday evening, 27 March 2024, a sizeable group gathered to discuss aspects of the economy, the environment and education as they affect the lives of ordinary people.

Our topics were: National prosperity: are we getting more prosperous? Investment and research: do more companies invest in the UK?

Sustainability: how do we encourage more sustainable farming?
Environment protection: how do we save the Wye?

Education: is the education system itself (GCSEs, A-levels etc) effective and up to date?

In a very active debate, there were many challenges; to the capitalist need for growth, the absence of money to achieve what needs to be done, the need for better education.

River Action UK’s “A Plan to Save the Wye” was commended: see here:

Overall, this was an opportunity to discuss issues that affect our lives every day and particularly those aspects impacted by leaving the European Union. We intend to do it again.”

Further events are planned and will be published locally soon.
